We planted a banana tree last year in the garden in front of Room 8’s private deck. The tree grew great all summer long and looked like it knew what it was doing. The alleged “winter” was hard on the tree though and all of the big green banana leaves turned brown. I trimmed everything back, waited for spring weather and hoped for the best.
Well, apparently the best that my banana tree can do it to grow a flower (?) right on the top of the trunk. I’ve never seen anything like it and was hoping that someone out there can tell me if this is normal. Are the big green leaves going to come back or is this all that I can expect?
The tree is starting to remind me of the plant in “Little Shop Of Horrors”. I sure hope the big green leaves are going to come back.
