There are those that call my local networking with local businessmen a sad excuse for hanging out at the Green Turtle in the afternoon but once in a while it really pays off.
Dan came into the Turtle this afternoon to see me. He has a cousin who knows a guy that used to date a girl who heard that one of the local shrimp boats was docking this afternoon. I scurried down to the docks and picked up a few pounds of the freshest shrimp available and cooked it up for Happy Hour this afternoon. That shrimp was (note the past tense) good!
With shrimp, simple can be best. I cooked it in a double boiler with some Old Bay seasoning and served it with lemons and cocktail sauce. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and I ended up cooking the whole bag with just a little bit left over for later. Our guests just love fresh shrimp. Peel-and-eats are a little messy but they are well worth the trouble when they have only been off the boat for an hour. You can’t get much fresher than that!
