Arte’s Pizza, Another Favorite!

September 9th, 2012 by theAddison

This post is another in our series of Our Favorite Restaurants and features Arte’s Pizza, a favorite of ours and of practically everybody on the island.

Arte (not him in the photo) came to Amelia Island from New York and built his own brick oven (in the photo at the back of the kitchen).  Around the oven has sprung a series of structural additions that can be confusing to the newcomer but once you find the door and walk past the kitchen to the dining room you are hooked by the aromas coming from the kitchen.  You can eat inside the dining room or on their patio.

One pizza and one salad is plenty of food for two people.  They also have a selection of pasta dishes that are always good and always changing.  I like the Quattro Stagione pizza with the artichoke hearts (in the box ready to walk back to the Addison) and a favorite add-on is their dipping sauce.  That sauce is great for their bread sticks, their pizza and as a salad dressing.

With the cooler fall weather approaching their patio will be a popular spot in the evenings.  They don’t take reservations so it is first come, first served.  If you call in advance, and if they aren’t too busy, they will have your food ready for pick-up.  Eat in or take out for a picnic on the beach.  The food is great and the service always good.
