Amelia Island locals and visitors alike have a lot to look forward to each year when the Sounds on Centre event comes to town. This is a family-friendly experience that’s entirely free to enjoy and is hosted on the first Friday in April, June, August, September, and October. To make the most of these free performances, you’ll want to make your way to downtown Fernandina Beach and set up a chair near the intersection of Centre Street and Second Street. Shows kick off at 6:00 pm and typically last until 8:00 pm.
This special event is organized by The Historic Fernandina Business Association and in addition to free concerts, guests can enjoy participating in raffles for prizes donated by local retailers and businesses. Additionally, there are Sounds on Centre t-shirts available to purchase with proceeds going to local community service groups. In the past, these have included the Police Auxiliary, college scholarships, and the Pirates Club to name a few.
This year, be sure to note that there will be a special concert held on Thursday, May 2, 2024, immediately following the annual Shrimp Festival Parade. Whether you’re someone who loves blues, oldies, classic rock, or something in between, you’ll find plenty of reasons to gather your family and friends and take part in the Sounds on Centre events this year.
