We had so much success with our culinary weekend in 2023 we are doing it again!! Stephen Fries and Chris Bartlett will host “Worth Tasting” the weekend of October 18 – 21, 2024 at The Addison on Amelia Island!  . Stephen and Chris have hosted Worth Tasting, the culinary walking tour of downtown New Haven in CT for 15 years. They are on the Board of the International Association of Culinary Professionals. Stephen is Professor Emeritus of Hospitality Management. He spent 36 years as professor and coordinator of the hospitality management programs. He is also a food columnist for several newspapers. Chris is co-founder and CEO of GEM Advertising and Poetic Sunset Escapes that can be found on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter.

This is an all-inclusive culinary weekend creating food boards, holiday boards, farmers market tour, downtown Fernandina Beach walking tour with drinks and small bites at select locations, cookbook market at a local bookstore, and unique dining experiences at two of Fernandina Beach’s fabulous restaurants.

Spend the weekend in historic downtown Fernandina Beach, FL on Amelia Island learning the secrets of creating food boards to enjoy at the inn as well as ideas to take home to share and prepare for family and friends. The culinary weekend includes a 3-course breakfast each morning at the inn, lunch on Saturday and Sunday, an evening social hour with complimentary beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the inn, and dinners Friday night and Sunday nights at a local brewery and Sunday night at one of our partner restaurants.

Enjoy a Culinary Weekend at The Addison on Amelia Island

Friday
Culinary class participants arrive by 3 PM to get settled in and ready for a weekend of fun and delicious activities. The group will meet with Stephen and Chris during the evening social hour at 5:00 PM to review the weekend itinerary and receive your “swag bag” before heading to a local brewery for dinner and craft beers (included in the package and within walking distance of the inn).

Saturday

Breakfast is served 8:30AM – 9:30AM either in the dining room or on the veranda. Following a 3-course breakfast, the group will  walk one block to the Fernandina Beach Farmers Market for a tour with Stephen and Chris and to shop for items to make food boards at the inn (included in the package). Lunch will be at the inn and include food boards made from the farmers market tour.

Saturday afternoon, Stephen and Chris will conduct a 2-hour culinary walking tour of downtown Fernandina Beach with stops for small bites and bevs from select venues (included in the package). The group will complete the tour at The Book Loft to browse and purchase cookbooks. Return to The Addison to refresh and get ready for the evening social hour at the inn. Dinner will be on your own and your innkeepers, Ron and Lisa, will be happy to make recommendations and reservations for you if requests are received prior to arrival at the inn.

Sunday

Breakfast is served 8:30AM – 9:30AM either in the dining room or on the veranda. Following the 3-course breakfast, the group will  create holiday boards and then head over to Story & Song Bookstore (a few minutes by car from the inn) for lunch (included in the package),  cookbook discussion, and cookbook market. Sunday afternoon is free time so participants can explore the shops, galleries, beaches, state parks, or take in a water activity to truly experience Fernandina Beach and Amelia Island. Following the evening social hour, participants will dine at one of our partner restaurants in the downtown historic district (walking distance from the inn)

Monday
Checkout is at 11AM so everyone has time to enjoy another fabulous breakfast before heading home.
