5 of the Best Things About Winter on Amelia Island
1. Mild Temperatures
Northeast Florida is one of the most comfortable winter vacation destinations. High temperatures during this season stay in the mid-60s, while low temperatures rarely dip below 45°F. Our mild winter weather is the top reason visitors from all over the United States visit Amelia Island during this season!
2. Fewer Crowds
Like most beach destinations, the most popular time to visit Amelia Island is spring and summer. When you stay in the winter, you can enjoy the shops and restaurants of Historic Downtown Fernandina Beach without the crowds. It’s also a great time of year to enjoy secluded nature trails at Fort Clinch State Park!
3. Holiday Celebrations
Who says you need snow to get into the holiday spirit? Some of our favorite Amelia Island events take place during the winter. Visit Amelia Island in early December to attend local Christmas celebrations like Dickens on Centre and the Historic Downtown Fernandina Beach’s Holiday Home Tour.
4. Specials & Packages
Each January, the Addison on Amelia Island hosts a 3-day-long cheesemaking class. This package includes cheesemaking instruction, breakfast each morning at the inn, lunch on Saturday and Sunday, and an evening social hour on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
